The original Happy Valley Elementary School was built in 1864 and was used until 1921. The teacher is Miss Edna Bradley who later married Albert Rostron. Some of the pupils are Laura Rostron, Lucy and Blossom Staples, Hohn Trevethan, Eddie, Theodore and Hiram Hall, and Vivian and Ethyl Duke. The tall man wearing the derby, shown on the porch, happend to be driving by on his buckboard and declared he would like to be in the picture. His name was Fred Howe, who later became mayor of Santa Cruz and the postmaster. |
